Double the Fun: Introducing the Second Settler Extra Turn on twosheep.io!

We're constantly looking for ways to make your experience on twosheep.io, the online alternative to Catan, even more exciting, and today, we're thrilled to introduce a significant update that shakes up the turn order: the Second Settler Extra Turn!

Forget the clunky and slow "Extraordinary Build Phase" of the past. We've implemented a new system designed to keep the game flowing and offer strategic depth, especially when you're playing with 5-8 players. Here's the lowdown on how it works:

The Dynamic Duo: Settler 1 and Settler 2

Instead of just one player taking their turn, we now have two players sharing a turn. Let's call them Settler 1 and Settler 2. Here's how the dynamic works:

  • Settler 1: This is the player who rolls the production dice to determine resource production for everyone.
  • Settler 2: This is the player who is "opposite" in turn order from Settler 1. This means the second settler moves around the table as Settler 1's turn moves around the table.

The Turn Sequence: How it Works

The turn will now proceed as follows:

  • Resource Production Phase (Settler 1): Settler 1 rolls the dice. All players collect resources based on the roll.
  • Trade and Build Phase (Settler 1): Settler 1 trades with other players and the bank as they normally would, and then builds roads, settlements and cities and buys development cards.
  • Trade and Build Phase (Settler 2): Now, Settler 2 gets a chance to trade and build, with the following rules:
Settler 2 extra turn rules:
  • No Player Trading: Settler 2 CANNOT trade with other players. They are restricted to bank/port trades only.
  • Full Building Rights: Settler 2 can build roads, settlements, and cities as usual, along with purchasing development cards.
  • Development/Progress Cards: Both Settler 1 and Settler 2 can play development or progress cards on their respective turns. However, only Settler 1 can play a Knight card before rolling the dice.

Why This Change?

We believe this new "Second Settler Extra Turn" adds a new layer of strategy and excitement to games with larger player counts:

More Action: By adding the Second Settler, we're ensuring the game moves faster and gives more players the opportunity to trade and build each round.

Strategic Restrictions: The limitations on Settler 2's trading force players to think differently about their resource management and trading patterns.

Get Ready to Adapt and Conquer!

This new system will definitely take some getting used to, but we're confident that it will lead to even more exciting and strategic games on twosheep.io. Jump in and try it out in your next game!

Let us know your thoughts on this new twist! Happy settling!
